I often get asked for advice on how to obtain a merchant account or how to select a good merchant account. A merchant account allows you to accept credit cards for your business. I wanted to share with you a few thoughts about what merchant services are, some terminology they use, and how to select a good one. I'll finish with a few personal recommendations.

Coming up with fresh ideas is often the easiest part of innovation. Many people struggle for new ideas, saying it’s simply too hard to come up with new ideas. What these critics don’t realize is that coming up with ideas is only the beginning. The hard part comes after the idea.

When was the last time you got into your car, put a blindfold over your eyes, and started to drive off? Have you ever put a blindfold over your eyes while driving? Probably not. At least, I hope not. This question sounds pretty crazy, but, although most people will never try to drive a car while blindfolded, many managers and business owners run their businesses every day with blindfolds on.
